I received a promotional email from Chitika the other day that had some fantastic Internet marketing techniques that I want to show you.
Look at the promotional email that I got below.
See how they are asking questions that peak your interest?
Then they ask you what the prizes are.. Prizes? really? I was hooked – A free high end phone? Not just some piece of junk either – Android, Storm or iPhone – Not to Shabby
So what makes this email promotion from Chitiika so powerful? {++}For starters, it told a story that got you excited – you wanted the phone
So how do I enter or what’s the catch? Just reply to this email with the website that you have this service listed on! that’s it? yep. simple as pie.
Do I want to make more money? Of course! send all my friends to it and I make money! I love money! don’t you?
And then they asked if any of your friends would be interested, and you’d be paid for your time
Part of social proof involves giving your friends the chance too, so anytime you can see if a friend would like it too… offer it.
Social proof is the number one method of viral communication – if you’re doing it, then I should too.
Business networking is similar, if you get a referral from a friend to see a doctor, it is 1000x more powerful than a yellowbook ad. Why? Because it came from someone you trust.
What else worked? The high end value of the prize. If you ever give anything away, make it valuable. Not in a phoney, half-baked, worried about the marketing budget kind of way. Go all out and make it special. Their friends are more likely to tell there friends if it’s a real value.
In other articles I mention that you need to be suggestive – this ad hit the mark with the last highlighted section – “Spread the word…”
There’s a book by by Bob Nichol called “Remember the Ice” – the title comes from the difference – a butterfly effect – between a sign at cash register that says “Don’t forget the ice” and “Remember the ice”. I don’t remember the numbers now, but the difference between the two phrases was phenomenal!
Always use the affermative about doing something, and never use the negative version – the subconscious seems to pick up on only part of the phrase so it’s either “forget the ice” or “remember the ice” –
