Well, as you can see, the change from Friday to Sunday is rather extreme. The update is mostly complete, and I really like it!
Kettlewell Enterprises now benchmarks at serving 95% of users in less than 600 ms. This is in contrast to the previous theme serving 95% of users in about 3.5 seconds (3500ms). I used the ab (Apache Benchmark) tool to make my comparison tests.
So to say that it’s zippy fast is an understatement, and speed was also my primary concern with my blog. Kettlewell Enterprises traffic has been shooting up to the stars, and I didn’t want to have any frustrated readers, so we dove in and fixed it real quick.
We can still make some tweaks to make the site load 95% of users in less than 500 ms. but we’ll wait to see if there is a need!
There’s still a couple of things left to do, like some broken navigation with the theme. I’ve got a message in to the theme author, but it was a weekend, so it may be a few days before I hear back. It’s not that big a deal anyhow.
And what blog would be complete without advertising? Especially for an Internet marketer… I do have to set a good example
We’ll be tying in to our Open-X ad server that we host in a few days, but it can stand ad-free for a few more days.
So what do you think? Is it fast enough? Is there enough content? Did you find something broken before me?
Let me know in the comments below… we’re here for you!
